We were in the process of purchasing a house, so I was pondering about different places, the cost of houses in various regions, and how location and income affect the value of a house. These thoughts occupied my mind and instilled a sense of unrest within me.
I wanted to talk to Jesus for a while, not for worldly blessings, but because He gives peace that nothing in this world can compare to.
I heated up some food, and settled down next to a window. There was a kind of peace I hadn't felt in a long time. I was thinking about places and people, watching a few folks walking by and the trees.
A thought came to my mind: Isn't this all created by God? Then, as I diverted my attention to the people going about their work, I felt that God asks us to care for and love others as we love ourselves. I wondered, what does God see in each of us? We are all created equal, but God has given talent, gifts, wealth, joy, and everything else in a dispersed manner to each of us.
What does He see in each of us?
When I thought about the people walking by, some might be good, some not so good, some happy, and some sad. But what would capture God's attention? What is He looking for?
Does anyone in this world get overlooked by God? No, never.
How do I know? Because the Bible tells us that long ago, God looked at the world and found only Noah to be a good man in His eyes. God was not pleased with anyone else. So, does wealth or fame or anything else really matter? The only thing that matters is the fear of the Lord. That is what impresses the Creator who has all the power and control in this world.
You might fear the Lord and...
I was going to say that you might fear the Lord but not have all the blessings. But before I could say it, a verse came to memory. I thank God for revealing it.
Psalm 34: 9-10
9 Fear the Lord, you his holy people,
for those who fear him lack nothing.
10 The lions may grow weak and hungry,
but those who seek the Lord lack no good thing.
Psalm 147:10,11
10 His pleasure is not in the strength of the horse,
nor his delight in the legs of the warrior;
11 the Lord delights in those who fear him,
who put their hope in his unfailing love.
